Foot massage combined with foot bath is able to enhance the blood circulation and promote metabolism. Apply some massage cream or oil to both hands for comfort and east. Start to massage the surface of your feet gently. It is always recommended to warm-up your feet with moderate pressure before very deep and strong massage techniques to avoid any injuries. Begin to effleurage your heel, the inner sole, the balls, the toes. This massage technique could be used in the opposite direction to have a continuous flow. Repeat this technique for a few minutes until your feet have been completely warmed-up.

Use index fingers to knuckle both sides of your feet from the ankle to the toes. Once again, this massage technique could be used in the opposite direction to have a continuous flow. Carry on this procedure for a few minutes.

  1. Thumb Walk

Thumb walking is a simple but very useful technique. Using left hand to support top side of foot, start to massage toes smoothly and make downward strokes with thumbs and fingers. It will be even better to make circular motion with your thumbs and fingers from toes and over the sole of the foot by pressing pressure point, then the arch. (Refer to foot reflexology chart for pressure point) Being aware there are tendons along with the arch. These tendons easily get tight and intense every day. Apply more pressure to these tendons, the heel and ball of the foot. Repeat for 3 times.

  1. Kneading

Once again, using left hand to support top side of foot, make a fist with your right hand to rotate the foot or apply circular motion, start from the ball of the foot, then the sole, the arch, and the ankle. Remember to apply moderate and durable pressure to the sole, the key point of Chinese foot massage is everything will be just right, no more, no less in order to maximum the benefits of foot reflexology.

  1. Toe massage

Start with the big toe and working towards the pinky toe, rotate each toe individually, slowly tug, twist and pull each toe gently. Another toe massage technique is to grasp toes with one hand, use another hand to squeeze as you pull all toes.

  1. Top and sides

Support foot by both hands and use both hands slowly massage the sides the feet. Fingers extended make circles around ankle, again, use moderate pressure. From this point, thumbs start to move around the sides of the foot, gradually up to toes. And then circling becomes back and forth movement. Massage top of the foot, focusing the tenders. Repeat this procedure for 5 or 6 times.
